Writing goals and principles

Every string should help an organizer run a better event or prove credibility — or help a participant give honest feedback. If it does neither, cut it.

Goals

GoalIn practice
ClarityA solo race director understands the next step in one read. No jargon walls.
UsefulnessCopy answers a real question or enables an action — not filler.
HonestyWe state what verification means. We do not overclaim.
DefensibilityOrganizers can forward reports and legal pages without embarrassment.

Organizer-first framing

Sporting Scouter is a B2B reputation product. The paying customer is the organizer. Public athlete discovery is secondary in product priority.

  • Lead with organizer outcomes on business.* and /business/: collect feedback, reply, prove trust, improve the next race.
  • Lead with athlete benefit on public event pages when the reader is deciding whether to register.
  • Stay minimal on feedback.*: participants are tired, on mobile, post-race.

Claims cite evidence

A number without a source is a number someone made up. Marketing stats, survey results, and performance claims need a cited source or must be removed. See marketing and the design system callout source slot.

One idea per screen

One primary action per view. One message per ad. One promise per hero. Multiple competing CTAs dilute trust — and trust is the product.
